it only took a month

yesterday, after a month of globetrotting around the world my lost dufflebag that delta airlines lost at the end of our mission trip to nicargua came back home. last week i had actually turned in my “loss claim” and figured delta would just be reimbursing me for the loss. of course, i was pretty upset by this fact because there were certain things in my bag that couldn’t be replaced, such as;

  • the table runner and random fabricy thingie i bought in masaya for pam
  • the baseball jerseys i purchased in nicaragua for my boys
  • my last almost complete moleshine journal – filled with decent and terrible ideas from the past year and a half.
  • the flip flops that i have spent the past 2 1/2 years wearing in (i bought these to replace the pair i had for seven years that finally broke after they were really welling good.)
  • the soccer jerseys i purchased for myself when i was in diriamba – the england national team and manchester united
  • the six pounds of coffee that i brought back for my family and friends.

the other things could be replaced but the list above would be hard to correct. thankfully my duffle bag of eight years is now back and i am presently wearing my flip flops. ahhhhhhh! life is good.

so long mate

the crocodile hunter died today. it appears he was struck in the chest by the barb of a stingray that he was diving with. this sent him into cardiac arrest and killed him. strange, huh? i would have never thought that he would have died from something like a stingray. after all the stuff he did with much more dangerous animals it’s rather ironic that he would go in this manner. it should have been something more like him being attacked by a ravenous hoard of salt water crocodiles while he was fighting off twelve rabid cobras who were going after him because of the two great white sharks that he was wrestling with ten thousand very angry poison arrow frogs waiting to tag in for the two great whites.

it just seems kind of anticlimatic for him to be killed by a stingray.

Ski Day 9-2-06 060

it was ski day today (our annual trip to false river to ski, wakeboard, and tube) and as always it was a blast. thanks goes out to the fletchers for letting us use their camp.

the surprising thing to me was how dead false river was for labor day weekend. of course, it was because of the fact that there is a l.s.u. game today and that is an all day affair around baton rouge. nobody does anything in baton rouge when it’s game day.

my run for the day
distance – 4.2 miles
total time – 44:35
pace – 10:36/mile

october 4th @ 8 p.m.

micro$oft training video

this is a micro$oft UK training video involving the actors from the bristish version of the office. it’s great. i think my favorite part is when ricky gervais says that his hero is nelson mandella because he was in captivity for 30 years and he has since been out for 13 years and has not “reoffended”. “shows that prison works.” i don’t care who you are that’s funny.

the next challenge

running schedule

i figure that telling y’all my next challenge puts pressure on me to actually finish it. therefore i am using you (and this blog) as a guilt motivator. i have agreed with my brother-n-law and sister-n-law to run a half marathon race in mobile on january 14th. right now the longest i have run without stopping is 3.7 miles (36:29). a half marathon is 13.1 miles and that is allot longer than 3.7. this means that i have a great deal of training to do between now and january. so please feel free to nag me about running. i’m going to need all the help i can get.

today’s schedule

it was a tiring day. here was the schedule:

    8:00 – 9:30 a.m. – early worship serivce @ pbc
    9:45 – 10:45 a.m. – sunday school @ pbc
    11:00 – 12:15 p.m. – late worship serivce @ pbc
    12:30 p.m. – home for lunch
1:30 – 4:30 p.m. – repair the dryer that has broken (i.e dismantle dryer and vacum out all the parts, pull dyer in and find out it is still not working, now dismantle dryer again and vacum out parts that i missed and clean the exhuast pipe, check dryer and find out that it is working find and thus avoid an expensive visit to have a technician do what i could probably do myself)
    5:00 – 5:45 p.m. – vist blaine & olivia at their grand father’s wake
    6:00 – 6:30 p.m. – go to pbc choir special
6:30 – 8:20 p.m. go to the ring community church that meets in pbc – one of my youth’s parents was giving her testimony at the rind and thus pam and i wanted to be there to support her and thus i left parkview a little early to hear her testimony.
9:00 p.m got home for supper

i’m not complaining about the day. in fact, if it wasn’t for the fact that i ran my second 5k race yesterday i probably wouldn’t even be tired today, but i am and i figured i would write it down. 🙂

random quote – where would JESUS be?

if JESUS CHRIST were on earth you’d find HIM in a gay bar in san francisco. HE’d be working with people suffering from aids. these people are the new lepers. just like the turn of bc / ad. don’t touch them, walk away from them. if you want to find out where JESUS would be hanging out, it’ll always be with the lepers.
