NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i hadn’t even thought of “lost” until j.t. (blessed be his name) made this comment. i really want to be on the writer’s side in this issue but this cross is too much to bear.

evil television and film corporations i will blame you if i miss “lost.” beware satanic corporate types.

darn j.t. and his blessed name

j.t. (blessed be his name) posted a video on his blog explaining why the writers decided to strike. this would make me feel bad about wish they were not on strike if it was not for the fact that their strike has postponed “24.” i understand them wanting to get their due for their work but this is “24” we’re talking about. they really should have considered that before they went on strike. i find it hard to disagree with j.t. (blessed be his name) because he is a youth ministry god, but i do have to remind him that this strike is postponing “24” and that is simply not acceptable.

SIDE NOTE – for those who are curious my cute, intelligent, doctoral wife has made it to honduras safely. she will be there until the 18th while see helps with the operation smile project that is going on down there. if you wanted to keep her in your prayers we would both appreciate it greatly.

the morning after

ah life is back to normal in my small little world of a few visits a day. the air was thin up in the “marko effect” stratus. now life can go on as normal with me stealing other people’s ideas, posting meaningless rabble, and, of course, helping to produce a little marko. 🙂

now we will return to you regularly scheduled program.

the marko effect

i promise that i will soon begin to blog about something other than marko but i thought some of you would find the power of marko interesting. above is the google analytics graph for the traffic to my blog for the week before yesterday. as you can see i had my normal 40 people coming to view the blog (approximately 35 of which are my mom). things changed dramatically once marko posted the link to the top ten list. the traffic jumped up to 364.

to give you a comparison i’ll compare the traffic to my blog when it was put on the ys update (back in september). here’s the graph for that.

as you can see it wasn’t as big of a jump. marko is basically three times more influential than the ys update. he is a online youth ministry power and a force to be reckoned with.

all hail the power of marko’s name.

SIDE NOTE – after changing my design several times i finally built the desk for my study (now affectionately dubbed the “man cave” by pam). it’s basically a collapsible table so that the “man cave” can easily be turned into the “guest room” when the need arises. that’s right my space has to remain portable so that i can remove my stuff when we have company. oh yes, i am master of this domain.

the desk cost me a grand total of $16.24 after tax. now i’m getting an old computer from my dad (needs a power supple – $30) that i can run ubuntu on, and probably a widescreen monitor for movies.

can i get a woot! woot!

even though i haven’t bought anything from it yet i love woot. as the slogan goes “one day, one deal.” it’s fun to go each day and see what they are selling and how they describe it on the blog.

to quote from today’s items (a 9.6 inch lcd television designed for kids):

studies show that the average american child is exposed to 40,000 tv commercials per year. this shocking statistic should be a source of shame for all of us. but with a hannspree 9.6” lcd tv in every kid’s room and a hands-off attitude in every parent’s heart, we can reach 50,000 and beyond!

ah what fun.

SIDE NOTE: i watched “last one standing last night” and it was pretty interesting. i’ll have to see if it continues.

living the bible

pagitt posted a link to an interview of a. j. jacobs and his one year book writing experiment to live all the rules found within the bible (“the year of living biblically“). the interview was great and the book looks interesting. i particularly liked jacobs answer to the question of which was the greater learning tool, the bible or the encyclopedia.

that’s a tough question. the bible project was a lot more difficult than the encyclopedia project. the bible affected every single part of my life, it affected the way i walked, the way i dressed, the way i hugged my wife, the way i ate. the year was the most extreme makeover of my life. in terms of which is the better learning tool, the encyclopedia does contain a lot of biblical passages in the different books, so it might contain most of the bible in it.

wouldn’t it be nice if our faith (based on GOD’s revelation through JESUS found in the bible) would affect every single part of our lives?

my wife the miracle worker

the above scene is only half of the breakfast scene from “the miracle worker.” it’s an amazing scene. it is also part of what my wife does every day. she is pretty impressive and it is not surprising that many of her patients’ parents have jokingly referred to pam as their miracle worker. i am more and more amazed by her every day.

SIDE NOTE – patty duke is dang magnificent in this movie.
