jessica has left the building
okay guys and girls, i promise this will be the last post on jessica’s stay in the hospital. i say this will be the last because she has now been relased. she’s doing well. it turns out that the negative gram rod bacteria she had was salmonella poisoning. she probably picked it up off the lettuce she ate on a taco. it appears that it was a costly taco to eat.

an update on jessica

as i posted yesterday jessica lawrence is presently in our lady of the lake hospital (room 545). yesterday it was thought that she had malaria but turns out that is not the case. instead jessica has a strain of gram negative rod bacteria. again she apparently picked this up in nicaragua. she is still going to be fine. her doctors have told her that they want to keep her in the hospital for a couple of days and pump her full of iv-antibiotics. she should be fine in a day or two. if you wanted to call her or visit her i know that she would love it because she is already feeling much better and bored from inactivity. i spoke with kendra demars today and it appears that rhett is doing well and thus he probably doesn’t have what jesica has. i’m sure they are both thankful for your prayers.
malaria

i figured y’all would want to know that jessica lawrence, my assistant and one of the 17 that went on the mission trip to diriamba, nicaragua, is in the hospital right now with the diagnosis of malaria. right now she feels like she has a really bad flu bug. the doctor’s say she will be fine and should be out of the hospital in 24 to 42 hours. i thought you would want to know so that you can begin to pray for her. you will probably want to pray for rhett demars also. rhett has similar symptoms but his test has not come back yet.
prayer reminder

just a reminder to be in prayer for the members of the youth ministry who will be down in diriamba, nicaragua starting friday. we will be leaving friday morning, july 28th @ 3 a.m. and getting back friday evening, august 4th at around 12:00 midnight. thanks for your prayers.

report from eric & hannah in nicaragua
eric sent me an email wednesday but i didn’t see it until today. i figured i would share it with y’all because many of you know and love eric & hannah.
Tis Eric and i´m just letting you know that hannah and i are still alive and having a great time. you will be shocked when you get here because of the change in political majority of the country. today there was a sandanista rally in managua and we were driving back from boaco. on our way back to diriamba we saw hundreds of busses carrying thousands of sandanistas back to thier home towns. I don´t know if nicaragua will be better off with a liberal victory or a sandanista simply because the sandanistas may not take defeat too quietly.
Hannah and i met some teenagers from new orleans and have made friends with them. We have also gotten to know their cousin very well who happens to be the grand-niece of the presidente de nicaragua. Everyone in the youth will love her and her the same, i hope it´s ok that i invited her to come hang out with us that week but she speaks fluent english so she won´t be too much of a burden if she decides to join us.
As much fun as the old people are we can´t wait for the youth to get here.

laser tag

we are going to play laser tag tomorrow (wednesday, june 14th) at laser tag of baton rouge (http://www.ltofbr.com/). we will leave from the student center @ 4 p.m. and it will cost $10 (this pays for three games & a small drink – if you want to play video games or get anything else to eat or drink you will need extra money). after this we’ll head back to the student center for “the view” (our weekly youth worship service – 6:15 to 7:30 p.m.).
