this week the church has been holding it’s v.b.s. and as a part of that some of us within the youth ministry office were asked to dress up like biblical characters and be a part of some skits. here are a few pictures. now i ask you – have you ever seen scarier looking biblical characters? surely none of the great heros of my faith looked like this.

our mission trip to nicaragua is july 28th to august 4th. we only have room for a few people and thus it is a “first come, first served” situation. in order to reserve your spot you need to turn in a $100 deposit as soon as is humanly possible. the past two years it has been an amazing trip spent being involved in the lives of some incredible people. i’m sure this year will be even better.

i can not stress enough that if you want to be a part of this week in nicaragua then you need turn in your deposit as early as possible. if you don’t turn in a deposit you’ll come to me saying “oh robert i want to go to nicaragua with y’all” and all i’ll be able to do is say “no nicaragua for you!” then of course, i’ll laugh in your face and push you down on the ground. once you’re on the ground i’ll probably kick dirt in your face and throw rotten eggs on you. it will all be very discouraging and humiliating. i wouldn’t wish that on anybody. so turn in your deposit quick like.

today in honor of gluttony i got to be the chauffeur for my niece anna and alycia (our resident youth ministry gangsta) on their quest to eat the one pound hamburger at “cheeburger, cheeburger.” i had serious doubts about them being able to do this but i was proved wrong. here alycia and anna hold up their pictures of victory. truthfully i got sick just watching them eat that much. i still can’t believe they got it all down.

thanks to everyone who came out and made the “sixth grade kidnapping” a fun time. i appreciate those who helped make signs and rode on the bus to help make our new sixth graders feel welcomed and comfortable within the student ministry. you are all great people and i appreciate you.

arnold sent me this link today. it’s an interview with audio adrealine and during the interview one of the band members starts talking about the austin’s call to missions. arnold didn’t send me the link thinking that i would post it up on the blog or anything and he and susie will probably be mad at me for posting this because they are not in it for any glory but GOD’s but i thought y’all would enjoy hearing what others have to say about our very cool friends the austins. they’re my heros.

thanks to julie and laura helping me and alan today we now have a new light bar in the student center. how exciting is that? i can barely contain myself. just think of it … a new light bar. ahhhhhhh! isn’t it nice?
