beautiful feet medical release

if you are going on the beautiful feet mission trip alan has probably called and told you this by now but if not i’ll explain. the forms we passed out for the beautiful feet mission trip had a liability release on them instead of a mecial release. while, i would appreciate the church not getting sued over something i am much more concerned about making sure we can get medical treatment for someone if they are hurt. therefore, here’s the medical release. it is in adobe acorbat format so you will need the free adobe reader in order to view it. you computer must likely already has adobe reader on it.

we are leaving tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. it should be an amzing weekend.

rest easy

i know that some of you have been worried about my standing in our student ministry march madness bracket competition (wow that’s a mouthful). you’ve probably been having sleepless nights and anxiety attacks over the fact that i was second from the last. free not my friends. i have slowly started my climb back to the top. i’m presently ranked 6th out of 9 participants (an improvement of two spots) and my outlook is looking good. i feel a rally coming.

for those who are curious here are the present ranks (the ranks are below the white space – which i don’t understand why it is there i must have coded something wrong but i can’t figure it out. if you figure it out please email me or comment and tell me what to fix because it really bugs me. otherwise you can just use the white space to doodle on. go ahead. pick up a sharpie and draw something in the white space. do it right now.):

varitas #2

i went to another varitas lecture tonight. this one was by john kilner on bioethics and was quite good again. unfortunately it was also the last lecture so thus ends my 2005 varitas experience.

montana, my basset hound, my be the best stretcher in the world. a single stretch can last up to five minutes with her. she does such a good job at stretching that i usually feel better after just watching her stretch.

BTW, once again i loved the worship stations at the view last night. i am constantly amazed by what some of you guys and girls are able to do.

march madness

one of the greatest times of the calendar year arrives this wednesday – march madness. last year we setup a bracket system for anyone involved within the youth ministry to participate within. i figured i would do the same thing again. if you are interested email me and i’ll send an invite to you. you will have to register with cbs sportsline but they’re very good about not bothering you. you can view our “brackets’ at http://the-view.mayhem.sportsline.com/brackets.

of course, i’m not really sure that there is any need for anyone to fill out their brackets because last year i throughly dominated everyone else. here’s my bracket for this year:

it’s over

the dnow is over now and i just woke up from sleeping. i went to bed yesterday at 3:00 p.m. and woke up today at 11:00 a.m. quite a nap! anyhow, i just want to publicly say “thank you” to everyone who was a part of making the weekend happen. the host homes, home leaders, random support people, and jessica and alan gave up a whole lot of energy and time and i for one greatly appreciate it. we’ll soon start discussing plans for next year’s discipleNOW.

now i’ve got to start catching up with all the normal stuff of life that i missed this weekend. for one my blogliines rss reader is full of new blog entries that i have to catch up with. i started out with 350 unread entries this morning and i have finally twiddled it down to 121 unread entries. of course, these entries are from the people who typically write long entries.

if you are wanting to view the videos from the weekend again here they are:

you’ll need realplayer to view the videos.

dNOW

dnow 2005
it’s the second day of the discipleNOW. it’s been a blast though i’m a little tired. i’m typing this during a break for loading video footage onto the computer for processing tonight. while i was at it i figured i would post a few pictures from the “amazing race” that happened this afternoon. you can see them by CLICKING HERE. if you have pictures you would like to add send me an email and i’ll send you an invite to the photo group.

say it ain’t so

it’s 2:03 a.m. and i’ve just gotten home from the first night of our discipleNOW. overall it was quite a good night. i’ve loved spending time with the guys from ten shekel shirt, they have a real passion for social justice and it was been encouraging to hear what they are involved in. andy neely said some powerful things this evening. i was only able to visit two of the homes this evening – the boilings/ tenth grade girls and the fletcher / 12 grade co-ed. the 10th grade girls were really loud. i can’t believe they haven’t woke up the entire neighborhood. i’m so thankful i have boys for kids. 🙂

now i have to report the impossible … my linux computer has CRASHED. it’s crashed bad. the thing locked up and i had to do a cold boot up (unplug the thing and restart. now the machine locks up every time it starts loading “x” (the graphic interface). i don’t really have time to look into this right now so i can’t give any more details. i thought this wasn’t supposed to be possible. linux is supposed to be the stable platform. the one that all the others look to. why do i apparently have the only bad linux machine in the world?

anyways, have a good night or morning.

the view – wednesday, march 2, 2005

joel station #3i have to take a second and brag about what happened tonight at “the view.” over the next several weeks we will be dealing with the minor prophets during the view. we are constantly trying to bring “the arts” and different learning styles into worship. that is why they are several people within our student ministry who are establishing worship “stations” within the student center dealing with eight of the minor prophets. the people doing this are using different methods of expression to convey the meaning of each book. tonight, haley and julie did hosea and joel respectively. what they did was incredible. i thought both were extremely moving and very much in tune with the scripture and what we as GOD’s people needed to hear and experience. it was an awesome night.

napolean dynamite

the skit guys have taken some napoleon dynamite footage and green screened themselves into it to do their own little farce skit. it’s pretty good. here it is.

the cool thing is that my new video editing software now allows me to do “green screen” effects. of course, i have to get a green screen in order to do these but i can at least say that i could do the effects if i wanted to. who knows what new worlds of video this will open up to us for sundays and wednesdays?

RANDOM YOUTH MINISTRY ADVERTISEMENT – remember to sign-up for the discipleNOW. it is going to be awesome. in fact, it gets better and better every year. this year we have andy neely, from springhill baptist church, mobile, alabama preaching and ten shekel shirt doing our music. SIGN UP NOW!

feminar video

feminar 2005i just finished the summary video from the feminar. the video looks a little washed out because the camcorder’s night shot feature was on for all the filming.

for those who don’t know what it is, the “feminar” is a girls only mini-retreat. the weekend was about the girls’ worth because they were created by and are loved by GOD. i don’t know much about what happened during the weekend because being a guy i was excluded from the weekend (sexist girls!) but i do know from the video that there was ALLOT of dancing. it would appear that girls dance pretty much all the time.

anyhow to watch the video you must have realplayer installed (it’s free) and then simply CLICK THIS LINK.
