using you as proofers

we have some nice ladies coming to stevens point this saturday to help spread a little more word concerning tapestry. they will be placing hundreds of door hangers in a couple of neighborhoods. the point is to spread word about tapestry, a ttu clinic we are doing in august, and a block party we will do on june 28th (the latter two are on another door hanger).

this is probably a little late but the following two images are going to the printer tomorrow around lunch. if you see a typo, something that doesn’t make sense, or something that you think could be better please respond quickly.

the blue lines are design guidelines for the door hangers and will not be a part of the final image.

a couple of photos that make me smirk

i thought i would share these two photos from last night at tapestry. the first is the cover of brad’s music tabs notebook. made me laugh to see tom selleck on it. the second is from the spontaneous game of wiffle ball that started after everything had been taken down and put up from last evening’s gathering. actually i’m not sure how spontaneous it really is when you bring a glove?

this third photo is from the hospital where pam had her pre-surgery mri this afternoon. this is by far the most buff JESUS i have ever seen. “meek and mild” my butt.

the wrong part of her back :)

tonight at tapestry i was telling everyone about pam’s back injury and the pending surgery. before i go any further i need to say that i am tired. as a result my mind isn’t working properly. now back to the story. i started to describe where the surgery was going to be. i told everyone that they would be operating on pam’s cervix.

which, of course, was a big surprise to pam when i told her about it. πŸ˜‰

my cute wife & her bad back – part two

i posted concerning this yesterday but i took pam to her neurosurgeon, dr. rado, today and things have changed rapidly. pam’s neurosurgeon rushed her in today because it was his opinion that she should not be experiencing as much pain as she has been. the last time he saw her was in february and he said that the symptoms she was now describing meant that the situation had most likely gotten worse. so instead of seeing her on june 17th he arranged for her to come in today.

after doing a few basic tests he determined that not only was pam’s left leg numb (which we knew) but that she had already lost a reflex in that same leg (which we didn’t know). this most likely means that more of the disc has herniated and is pressing strongly against a nerve. because of this pam’s neurosurgeon changed his previous opinion concerning conservative treatment and stated that such treatment is no longer in pam’s best interests. pam will have an additional mri monday to verify what dr. rao believes to be true and pending the results of the mri pam will have surgery on her back wednesday. the plan is to go in and remove a little bone to enable access to the herniated disk and then remove the herniated portion of the disk. after the surgery pam’s recovery should take around 2-3 weeks. at least that’s the game plan for right now.

my cute wife & her bad back

i thought i would update you guys on pam and her back.

pam made it home from brazil and the combination of travel and the plane ride tore her back up. around friday of last week the pain became so bad that she was reduced to laying on her side. we’ve gone back to the orthopaedic medical doctor and have been told the next steps are to do another epidural injection and schedule an appointment with an neuro surgeon for a check up and to prepare for the possibility that the epidural injection doesn’t work.

life for pam is pretty boring right now. she is in constant pain if she is in any other position other than laying on her side. so she has laid on her side since friday while getting up every now and then just to stretch. she has already stated that she is real thankful that she was never placed on bed-rest when she was pregnant with the boys. she hasn’t been out of the house since saturday and is going a little stir crazy. who can blame her?

pam is not to the point of surgery yet but that could be coming. the good news is that the surgery is pretty minor for back surgery. what minor means here is that it does not involving fusing anything or 6 months of rehab. we’re not there yet but it is nice to know that if things don’t improve then it is an option that apparently works almost immediately. it is pam’s and my own view that surgery should always be a last option so we’re trying to avoid it if it is possible.

i love watching this

two things that i love watching:

  1. several different “threads” doing incredibly significant acts of love and service that they noticed on their own. i can’t tell you the specifics but i can say they are just plain cool. i love being a part of this church.
  2. will ferrell on “man vs. wild” – that was funny t.v.

SIDE NOTE – i had the greatest conversation with jessica lawrence, a co-worker/laborer from baton rouge, today. she and matt are simply amazing people.
