second again

i know i predicted this yesterday but i figured i would go ahead and make it official since the game last night … i got second in our “march madness” bracket competition with sparks getting first place by 1 point. here are the results:

    steven sparks – 249 – 38 games correct
    me – 248 – 37 games correct
    eddie hirst – 247 – 36 games correct
    sam jones – 237 – 36 games correct
    stephen ware- 237 – 35 games correct
    stephen miller – 220 – 36 games correct
    t lusk – 219 – 34 games correct
    kevin lee – 189 – 34 games correct
    blake wallace – 168 – 31 games correct

almost but no cigar

i figured i would calm all of you who have been worried about how i was doing in my march madness bracket. my come back from 7th placed started this past weekend and i have good news and bad news to report. the good news is that i did dramatically pull up in the rankings. the bad news is that i will miss winning the bracket for the first time in three years. no matter who wins tonight (hopefully north carolina will win) sparks will beat me for the lead by ONE POINT. thus i will end in second place. so close yet so far away.

so sparks where do you want to go eat?

beautiful (pictures) mission trip

beautiful feet 2005
please don’t think that i mean to suggest by my entry title that my pictures are beautiful. instead, i’m playing off the name of the church “beautiful feet”. anyways, i’ve setup a photo pool on flickr so that everyone can share their pictures. i’ve placed 43 of mine thus far. you can view them here.

i’lll summarize the trip when i’m a little less tired (maybe tonight). needless to say it was amazing.

SIDE NOTE – if you are already a member of flickr or would like to join flickr then you can join the beautiful feet photo group and add your own pictures.

protect your ears

wing is a singer that you have got to hear. i have to warn you though that your life will never be the same again after you hear the melody of her vocal chords.

here are a few samples of her music:

just remember that once you listen to one of the above samples there is no turning back

my wife is the greatest

pamela ann adkinson terrell is the greatest. she is the greatest for allot of reasons but the reason right now is because she is semi-forcing me to get an ipod. you see i have the habit of being incredibly cheap (a trait i inherited from my father). this is not something that i usually think of as a bad trait but it becomes a royal pain when it involves gift money. i have a habit of not spending money that has been given to me as a gift. i presently still have the money that my parents gave me for my birthday (november) and four gift cards to barnes and noble and best buy that i received for CHRISTmas. it’s not that i don’t want to spend the money and gift cards. it’s just that i will go to the store sure that i’m going to buy one particular thing and then when i get to the store i start to convince myself that i don’t really need the item and it’s simply a waste of money. personally, i usually think that is a good trait but not with gift money. gift money is meant for splurges. that’s the whole point of the money. i don’t think we should splurge much during normal every day life but birthday and gift money is something incredibly different.

so this is where pam comes into the story. she has decided that i am going to spend this built up money on an ipod. i’ve wanted to get one for awhile. i’ve priced them, researched them, figured out what color and model to get. yet every-time i think about it i realize that it is just a waste of money. of course, it is the perfect thing to spend gift money on. that’s what pam says and i believe her. so therefore when i get back from the beautiful feet mission trip i am going to order myself an ipod.

here’s where you get to participate. by ordering the ipod from apple i get two lines of text engraved on the back of it for free. i’m looking for a good 46 character quote. if you have one then help a brother out.

beautiful feet medical release

if you are going on the beautiful feet mission trip alan has probably called and told you this by now but if not i’ll explain. the forms we passed out for the beautiful feet mission trip had a liability release on them instead of a mecial release. while, i would appreciate the church not getting sued over something i am much more concerned about making sure we can get medical treatment for someone if they are hurt. therefore, here’s the medical release. it is in adobe acorbat format so you will need the free adobe reader in order to view it. you computer must likely already has adobe reader on it.

we are leaving tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. it should be an amzing weekend.

ring the bell

awhile back i mentioned at the view and on the blog that the coalition of immokalee workers had been fighting with taco bell for a one penny per pound raise on the tomatoes they picked for taco bell. the immokalee workers had been had been picking tomatoes for 1970s wages and had been unable to convince taco bell to give them the slightest raise or improve the working conditions at all. churches across the country had joined with the coalition in boycotting taco bell in the hopes of convincing them to do the right thing. after years of protest taco bell and yum foods decided to give the workers the raise and improve conditions. you can read more here.

so if you have been boycotting taco bell in support of the immokalee workers you may now eat at the bell in peace. i don’t even like taco bell and yet i plan on taking my boys to eat there tomorrow.

mush!

when i arrived home tonight my kids said “you’ve got to see this.” of course, i couldn’t see whatever it was right then because it was time to eat. so we waited and then the “you have got to see this” moment came up in conversation. after i hear what it was i said “i’ve got to see this.” here’s what it was. this afternoon pamela and the boys went walking to the park with montana. just for a lark adam asked his mother if he could try to get montana to pull him on his skateboard. so he grabbed the leash and let out all sixteen feet of it and then shouted for noah to run in front of montana and thus get her to chase him. montana shot off pulling adam behind her. she was a blazing blur of 1 foot high red fur with a screaming and smiling eleven year old dragging behind her. after supper i got to see it first hand and i want to testify that it was hilarious. who knew that basset hounds made such good sled dogs? i’ll try to post a picture of it here soon.

btw, noah, my youngest, has joined the blogosphere. here’s his blog.
